1. Grade Reporting Issues:
Hamrick and Cline talked
to the deans about ongoing problems with late grade reporting. This has
become a huge problem that affects the next term's registration, financial
aid, fiscal affairs, and housing-let alone student satisfaction ratings
for the university. Hamrick asked that we work with him to find a solution.
After considerable discussion, it was agreed that Hamrick will (a) send
out a reminder of the exam deadline, (b) send a report of faculty offenders
to deans with copy to Pfeiffer, and (c) meet with each school to educate
faculty on the importance of entering grades on time. Pfeiffer asked deans
to consider such issues of service for students in annual performance appraisals.
There are about 20 faculty who fail to submit grades on time.
2. P&Ps Update:
Pfeiffer said that the P&Ps
are being revised on all fronts, by both faculty and administrative groups.
When the project is finished, all P&Ps will be on the web in reformatted
versions. As well, there will official hard copies in several locations.
We discussed the need to create on ongoing process of review once the project
is complete.
3. Reassigned Time:
There was a comprehensive
discussion of reassigned time needed for various heads, directors, and
coordinators for next academic year. By February 1, the deans are to send
Pfeiffer their requests for reassigned arrangements for the 2002-2003 academic
year.
