NOTE: At times, issues of confidentiality may require that some items discussed in meetings be excluded from these minutes.
PRESENT: Bill Barnes, Joel Fowler, Alan Gabrielli, Mike Murphy, Sandy Pfeiffer, Dawn Ramsey, Judy Waits
ABSENT: Dick Aynsley
(attending off-campus meeting related to curriculum)
1. SIR Evaluations:
This year deans will receive
batch SIR summaries for all their individual programs, for their own school,
and for the university. As well, the working P&P indicates faculty
will provide the dean with individual course summaries before performance
appraisals are completed. As of last Spring 2002 term, complete copies
of all SIRS summaries have been housed in the vpaa's office and in the
Library.
2. Future Faculty Positions:
We discussed future faculty
positions within Academic Affairs, in light of information in the Annual
teaching Load report and the current budget.
3. Calendar Issue:
There was a question as
to why the this term's calendar ended up with TR classes meeting more times
than MW classes. Pfeiffer will check with Hamrick and report back.
4. Fee Waivers:
Pfeiffer will follow up
with the BOR about the number of fee waivers that can be issued to graduate
assistants.
5. Non-Tenure-Track Faculty:
By January 14, the deans
are to give Pfeiffer a list of who they want to be non-tenure-track faculty
within their school and who they want to be temporary full-time faculty.
6. VPAA Email to Faculty:
It was suggested that the
vpaa should send faculty an email clarifying several issues that have been
variously interpreted-namely, consulting conflicts with teaching, personal
leaves, and timing of final exams. Pfeiffer will send it this week.
For the cake, chips, and Boston cream pie-we had Dawn Ramsey and Terry Tripp to thank. Thanks!
