Pfeiffer will invite Ron
Koger to our next meeting to discuss ways that Academic Affairs can work
with his area in recruitment.
2. AVPAA Vacancy:
Joel Fowler will be leaving
his position as assistant vice president on June 30, 2002, to return to
the ivy-covered walls of academe (aka the Mathematics Program).
3. Reassigned Time:
Next year there will be
reassigned time for program heads, for the director of International Programs,
and for the director of the new Teaching and Learning Center. All other
requests for reassigned time will go directly to the vpaa for approval--including
for directing graduate programs.
4. Chinese Visitors:
Bennett announced that there
will be two Chinese visitors on campus Thursday, December 13. He passed
out an itinerary and hopes that deans and program heads will stop by to
talk to them in J381 between 9:30 and 12:00.
5. Teaching and Learning
Center:
Pfeiffer will provide more
information to Academic Affairs next term and will be looking for a location
and director (faculty member with reassigned time).
6. BAS Degree:
There was discussion on
the BAS degree program listed in the catalog--i.e., whether we should market
the program more vigorously.
7. Promotion/Tenure:
Pfeiffer will give the promotion/tenure
packages to the president tomorrow for her consideration. As already announced
to the faculty, Pfeiffer will send each candidate copies of letters from
him and from the Campus Peer Committee.
8. Non-Tenure Track Faculty:
Pfeiffer has received clarification
from the BOR about non-tenure track faculty and temporary faculty. Soon
he will discuss the topic with deans and send recommendations to the president.
9. 10/4 Work Week:
Programs are given the option
of having staff work a 10/4 schedule the week of December 17. Program heads
and/or deans should tell Judy Waits if any offices will be on a 10/4 schedule.
