Academic Leadership Council Minutes

1. Web Reports:
Jocelyn Clark said that she will set up several training sessions on web reports. There are over 400 different reports that deans, program heads, and directions would be interested in accessing. Jocelyn will email the members with times slots.
 
2. Miscellaneous:
Rossbacher, Pfeiffer, and others will be presenting the budget to the BOR on Friday, January 8.

Academic space will be discussed at the Deans Council meeting next week. ALC members are to send comments or suggestions to their dean before the meeting.

SPSU is developing an agenda to put forth to the Legislature. Examples include adding engineering programs, shifting the MS in management to an MBA, expanding 4-4-2 programs (teaching our degree offerings at 2-year schools), and initiating an aviation management program.
 
3. Math and Science Teachers:
Pfeiffer will talk further with Rutherfoord and Gabrielli about the possibility of training math and science teachers in the future.
 
4. Events on campus:
The president suggested that when you would like her to attend/speak at an event on campus, please you plan the event then invite her-providing the date, time, and any other involvement you need from her. The vice presidents are also available for such events.
 
5. National Ranking Handout:
Pfeiffer handed out the National Rankings for SPSU, February 2002. Carden noted that under national and international competition by student teams, SPSU ranks #1 in the 2000 Institute of Industrial Engineers Simulation Competition and #3 for 2001. The list periodically can be revised as required.
 
6. Program Reviews:
ATET and HTC are undergoing program reviews this term.
 
7. Promotion and Tenure P&Ps:
Pfeiffer invited discussion on the recent reworking of the promotion P&P, tenure P&P, pre-tenure P&P, and post-tenure P&P. Some of the comments follow:

8. Statutes:
Rutherfoord said that a committee of past senate moderators is meeting to revise the statutes. They are making good progress.
 
9. P&Ps on Web:
Pfeiffer said that when the P&Ps have been completed, they will be available in two versions: HTML and pdf.
