1. EIFs:
All EIFs for spring term
need to be submitted by tomorrow.
2. Summer 2002:
Pfeiffer will talk to the
president about some remaining questions concerning summer term, and either
he or Fowler will report back to program heads and deans.
3. Architecture:
Sartor said the new building
should be open some time in February. (But we'll see as we get closer to
the date--no one is planning the party yet.)
4. Degree Proposals:
Pfeiffer reported that the
Biology proposal may be on the February BOR meeting agenda-it's not certain
yet. The Systems Engineering and MBA proposals are also under consideration
at the BOR office.
5. Recruitment:
Koger spoke about recruitment
and retention. Open house, orientation, and tours have been successful
in attracting students who eventually enroll. The problem is keeping them
here. Research suggests that students who have a personal contact at the
university tend to stay.
6. Schedules:
There was discussion about
schedules being held for students who then do not pay but also do not drop.
Koger indicated that the procedure will be changed next academic year.
7. Fee Waivers:
About 2% of FTE enrolled
students are getting fee waivers. These waivers have nothing to do with
graduate assistant waivers. Pfeiffer has contacted the BOR on the issue
of the number of student waivers for graduate assistants. He is awaiting
a response.
8. Institutional Research:
Jocelyn Clark spoke to the
ALC about what her office can provide for programs. For example, she can
help design survey instruments for students, help with program review reports,
and compile data and statistics.
9. Retention:
Pfeiffer noted that retention
will be a continuing theme in meetings for this year and next. He suggested
program heads consider having a specific faculty member who coordinates
efforts concerning retention, unless the program head prefers to serve
in that role.
