Item 1: Jeff Orr – Update on ATTIC

Professor Orr distributed a handout containing an overview of the ATTIC.  The handout described the ATTIC’s collaborations with the SPSU faculty, staff, students, and departments, the Board of Regents, and the federal government over the last year.  Orr talked about the handout and described in detail the duties and responsibilities of the personnel in the ATTIC.  Orr announced that he is looking for input regarding the ATTIC and welcomes all feedback.  Dr. Szafran suggested that the ATTIC send weekly email to students reminding them of tutoring hours, workshops, etc. offered by the ATTIC.  Other suggestions included:

Dr. Szafran talked about the need for an operational plan for serving student needs which could include moving to a permanent schedule where we set the schedule for all courses and list when the courses will be offered (semester and whether day or night).  This would help students plan better and would make the registration process easier.  He also suggested contacting students who have not registered.  Dr. Szafran will prepare an outline for an operations plan and will share with deans and chairs.

Item 2:  Updates

Early Warning - Dr. Szafran brought the Council up to date on the SPSU 1001 courses offered during fall semester.  Szafran met with three of the four instructors who taught the course and reviewed their course evaluations.  One hundred percent of the evaluations were positive and contained beneficial feedback from the students.  Letters for students at academic risk will be mailed on December 20th and may be appealed on January 3, 2006

Item 3:  Instructional Deliver Plan (IDP)

Dawn Ramsey talked about the deadlines and guidelines for submitting IDPs and announced that they should include all courses, degree programs, and certificates that we are currently offering and will potentially offer in the future.  The IDPs should identify our plans and goals for the next 3-5 years.  The IDPs should be submitted to Dawn by February 1 so that they can be submitted to the Board of Regents by mid-February.

Item 4:  SWOT Analysis

The Council continued discussing the SWOT Analysis and strategic planning goals from the Vision subgroup.

Meeting adjourned at 5:15 P.M.
