BOR Capital Outlay
Pfeiffer will be part of the SPSU team attending the BOR Capital Outlay meeting on July 20 to present the proposal on the steel lab, Gateway project, final renovations of the physics building, and final burying of the fiber optics cable.
Summer Pay
Fowler has been looking at the cost of summer pay in comparison with other system institutions. The Workload Committee will look at this topic in early September.
Expanded Cabinet
Deans are included in the Expanded Cabinet, which will meet the first Wednesday of every month. Items for the agenda should be sent to Pfeiffer who will forward them to Mary Phillips.
Fundraising Suggestions
Pat Garrett, Executive Director of Advancement, may visit the deans regarding fundraising suggestions.
Murphy will be speaking for the VPAA at the general
faculty meeting on July 26 at noon.
Graduate Tuition Differential
Fowler has been looking at the graduate tuition differential and the theory behind the allocation of funds. After some discussion, it was decided to put this topic on the agenda for the next Deans Council meeting, July 24.
Graduate Assistants
There was discussion on graduate assistants and how many graduate programs can have. It was noted that there must be a direct correlation to teaching, instructional support, etc. GAs should not be doing routine office work. This item should be on the Extended Cabinet agenda for August 8.
Budget
FY 02 budgets for the schools and programs were given to deans. Fowler will be the liaison with the budget office.
The next Deans Council will be July 24, from 1-2:30 in J334.
