Bachelor of Applied Science Degree

Core Requirements

All BAS concentrations require the following core courses.  The equivalent technical college course number is indicated in parentheses.  (Note:  Not all core courses are offered at all technical colleges.)  Students should complete as many of the core requirements listed below as possible as part of their AAS degrees.

Area A:  Essential Skills

ENGL 1102   Composition II        (ENG 193)
MATH 1111   College Algebra      (MAT 191)  Content Design concentration only
MATH 1113   Pre-Calculus          (MAT 193)  All other concentrations


Area B:  Institutional Option
SPCH 2400   Public Speaking     (SPC 191)
STS 2400      Science, Technology and Society


Area C:  Humanities/Fine Arts

One Course in Literature
One Course in Art and Culture    (HUM 191)


Area D:  Science, Mathematics and Technology

Mathematics Group:

Normally, 16 Credits from your AAS concentration will satisfy this requirement if your AAS degree is in an area related to your BAS concentration.   Consult the Office of the Registrar for details.
